spring/summer_16
green gold
A collaborative work with the German photographer Valentina Seidel.
The work „spring/summer_16 green gold“ consists of a series of photographic works documenting a temporary installation at the HOCHsitz in Glashagen/ Germany MV by the two artists. „spring/summer_16 green gold“ was published under the same name on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of Schmuck2. In addition to the photo series, the publication includes texts by Anne Schloen, Makiko Akiyama and an interview by Benjamin Lignel with Susan Pietzsch.
„This golden object is a temporary artistic intervention. ‘spring/summer 2016 – green gold’ – that is the title of this work, developed jointly by artists Susan Pietzsch and Valentina Seidel.
Ever since their artistic collaboration began in 2000, Susan Pietzsch and Valentina Seidel have repeatedly focussed on the interface of fashion, jewellery and photography, viewing this intersection from a variety of perspectives. Their intention: to use an interdisciplinary and process-based approach to work to question the usual definitions, dissolve the boundaries between the disciplines, and to find new points of view.“
„With their golden intervention, Susan Pietzsch and Valentina Seidel have developed a manifestation for jewellery that breaks with conventional ideas: Gold does not adorn the human body in the form of a tiny object; rather, it completely enshrouds an architectural structure, rendering its overall contours suddenly visible.“
